3 out of 5 stars Curbs appetite for about 30 minutes; otherwise ineffective   December 24, 2008
John P. Thiel (Astoria, Queens, New York City)
I've taken several supplements with varying results, and they all worked without increasing my amount of exercise except for this one. On the other hand, it does curb appetite nicely for a very short time.

If you take it about 30 minutes before ordering in a restaurant or buying take out during your work day it will be effective at curbing your immediate desire to pig out or order more food than you should. It does not do anything to lessen the amount of calories or fat you absorb otherwise (such as chitosan does), or to metabolize body fat (as only resting metabolism and exercise does). Mega-T does not curb appetite for long periods between meals even so well as a 250 calorie bag of M&Ms does.

On the metabolism issue, I have a bit of math to present with regard to all supplements: A pound of body fat represents 3500 calories; there is no way that consuming caffeine and other stimulants is going to burn a pound of body fat if you're not active (not even the dreaded Stacker 3 can do that for all the suffering it would put you through); on the other hand, if you use that boost of energy to jump start you into some kind of activity that does increase the amount of calories you burn then it has done its job. I, for instance, go cycling over 3500 kilometers per year, and before ever ride--and often during--I'm drinking strong coffee both because I love coffee and because it gives me that little push I need to increase my level of activity (Note: 800 calories per hour is about the max for amateur cycling actually; a casual ride will burn anywhere from 350 to 500 calories per hour and the heavier the rider the more calories (s)he will burn). If you want to burn fat, I recommend cycling (and boxing) above all else--aerobic activity burns calories like no supplement can ever do.

Taking some green tea daily is a good idea but there are several other supplements that work better for weight loss which offer it or simply as a dietary supplement if you don't actually like drinking green tea. In Japan they refer to green tea as a "calorie off" drink, and I believe that's true, but its not miraculously so. Again, no replacement for aerobic activity.

The one other mistake dieters will often make is taking a appetite suppresent as a substitute for eating adaquate amounts of calories and/or exercise. This method will result in losing just about everything BUT fat. Less bone, less muscle, less water (who cares about less water?), but your body fat isn't being used as fuel unless you do something active--even weight lifting--and for that you need to eat, and eat well.

BOTTOM LINE: Mega-t is not the solution, though it can be part of a good plan to curb urges to eat excessively when presented with an unlimited opportunity to eat if you take it a bit before making those daily decisions.

5 out of 5 stars Five stars..........so far.   December 8, 2008
B. Nallick (Mpls, MN)
Well, I'm fat.
My doctor said so.
My acid reflux said so.
My scale said so.
I've been yo-yo dieting for years but I'm only 5'8 and I'm up to 200lbs.
I've never been this heavy but I had a very scary acid reflux episode a few days ago that finally gave me the wake up call I needed to change my eating habits permanently.
Now, I've tried every weight loss pill out there and most of them either don't work or they keep me up at night, even if I take them in the morning.
I also realize that my weight will come off with our without a "miracle".
pill but I'm really and I mean REALLY impatient.
So........I took my first pill this afternoon and I'm not nearly as shakey as with some of the other pills I took in the past.
Does it curb my appetite?
I'll know when I get home, my biggest binge time is right before I go to bed.
I'm giving it five stars.....for now.
I'll update this review next Monday, Dec 15th 2008.
I'm at 200lbs right now.
If I'm not down to 195 by next Monday I'm going to consider this product a failure.
I demand results for my money.
And if I end up cheating and eating a ton of junk food.
I'll be honest and not blame the green tea for my own lack of will power.
Talk to you in seven......
Review update.
Monday December 15th,2008.
I weighed myself this morning and I'm at 194.
So, do I consider this product effective?
It's hard to tell if it was the product or just the calorie restriction.
Let's see if next Monday I can get down into the 180's.
Talk to you then.....

I just bought this stuff yesterday and tried it today. I am always scared to take things like this because I am so sensitive to getting jitters and rapid heart beat. I didn't experience that at all but my mood was great and I had tons of energy. I am usually tired all day everyday. I took 1 pill an hour before lunch (so about 11 for me) and have not had the need to take another one because I don't have desire for food at all. How great that it is so cheap too. I have way better things to do with my time then to write a long review on something but I always research things so I am sure that other women do the same and so I hope this has been helpful to you. I am going to continue to try to only take the one pill because I am afraid that 2 will keep me up at night. For the low price tag, it is definitely worth a try.

i got this last month and i think i have been losing some weight little at a time. but there's no drastic change those wanting to lose weight a lot. I did get good results this month because i followed the exercise steps that were included in the box. this is a okay product for those trying to control portion size and increase energy levels. enjoy!

Ok, I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first. A pill that could curb your appetite, improve your metabolism, and curve cravings>? Don't think so right??? Wrong, the first day I received the pills I took one about thirty minutes before dinner. By the time dinner came i had no interest in eating the two bowls of food I would usually eat. Instead, I was shocked when I found myself full and completely satisfied at half a bowl. This is a great thing and believe me, 2 pills a day 30 minutes before you eat will work miracles, no joke. With daily exercise such as TAE BO, you can lose pounds like crazy. I live in Phoenix, Az and I hardly go outside to have a jog in 115 degree heat ( do you blame me>?) but with an hour of exercise a day- I lost 8 pounds and 5 inches in THE FIRST WEEK about 7 days. Buy it.
