Effective and Natural--Wish Amazon Would Carry This Product January 3, 2009 P. Costello After taking Metamucil and wondering why the only fibers on the market seemed to have sweeteners and flavorings, I found this product. I have used it for about five years, and I feel MUCH better than I had previously. That could be because the stress I experienced, which aggravated my reasons for taking this product, has lessened. But I also attribute part of my increased comfort directly to this product. It is, as other reviewers have said, easy to use, and it is free from additives--additives that, one might say, do more to exacerbate a number of problems that many people face who need to take this fiber. There are in fact other versions of all-natural psyllium husk fiber that I have discovered after using this one. Trader Joe's, for example, sells its own brand, and it is similarly without additives. However, I find that the textures vary slightly from brand to brand, even if the basic ingredient is exactly the same. And my body likes, ahem, regularity. So, I am sticking with this one. My only issue with Yerba Prima here is that they apparently do not let Amazon sell their product directly (or perhaps that Amazon does not find it profitable enough to do so). Those of us who depend on a constant supply of psyllium husk to feel well and to lower cholesterol would, I think, be grateful if we could purchase in bulk through Amazon. Just a suggestion.
Essential to good health June 18, 2008 Brooklyn Artist (brooklyn NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a caregiver for my mother with Alzheimer's I was at my wits end in trying to find an effective laxative that was homeopathic and natural. Due to her severe constipation we had several ugly toiletting episodes...ehrmmm, anyhoo after trying many many many things I wandered into a WF store and came across this.It really was my first experience in discovering how the RIGHT product can really SOLVE a problem. Two years later she is still given this as part of her dietary regimen. As a vegetarian who eats about 50% raw foods I didn't think I would "need" this. A few months ago I began to take it as part of a detoxification regimen...and it really is effective. After the cleansing it has also become part of my dietary regimen.
This Psyllium mixes well with Everything - Food and Drink September 24, 2007 Healthy Balance (CA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I add psyllium to my food and drink every day. I have tried many brands and even tried psyllium pills -- however this whole husk psyllium powder is so handy to add to my smoothies, my soups, my juices, my protein drinks, my eggs, pretty much anything I eat or drink. The fiber fills me up so I eat less (and lose weight) and it also keeps me comfortably "regular" Now I know why Dr. Mehmet Oz recommends psyllium so highly as a daily supplement to your diet. This is low cost and high result psyllium - you can't go wrong. Just remember to drink lots of liquids every day.....otherwise psyllium can be like cement in your colon...don't say I did not warn you. :)
does the job June 5, 2005 John Stodder (livin' just enough) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This stuff makes you feel better. To say more than that would be indiscreet, but the problem it helps you solve is a problem that you should try to stop having because it leads to untold other health problems. So if you want to get rid of it, take a scoop of this mixed with any drink you like (Scotch? I haven't tried it, but you never know), once or twice a day. Also helps lower cholesterol. By the way, this price is less than half what you'd pay at Whole Foods.
