5 out of 5 stars Some speculate that this may prevent Alzheimer's   January 15, 2008

This is an easy way to regularly get the essential ingredient of curry powder, which I've read in respected scientific news articles is correlated with lower incidence of Alzheimer's disease. From what I understand, Alzheimer's in rare in India, and in some communities in India which eat lots of curry, Alzheimer's is virtually unknown.
So, we're giving it a try, as well as eating more curries, since we like them. My husband gets a lot of cold sores, which I read is correlated with a higher incidence of Alzheimer's, so I figure this is one thing I can do to keep him healthy, and he also thinks it's a good idea. You hear a lot of bogus herbal "remedies" and other stuff (which has been discredited but persists urban-legend-wise)about aluminum, but this is the only measure I've read about which seems to have some real merit. I've very skeptical in general about "alternative" cures or remedies, and while this has not been tested as far as I know specifically for Alzheimer's, it's easy enough to take, inexpensive, and as harmless as eating turmeric.
