5 out of 5 stars take a closer look   November 14, 2008
Take a closer look at that tylenol bottle...3 different kinds of red dye and at least 2 sweetners: corn syrup and sorbitol. Yes, I have kids' tylenol in my cabinet...but I only use it when I absolutely have to....and that's not often! Medicines are much more effective when you only use them when absolutely necessary. I think everything should be used in moderation...including natural and medical remedies. My line of thinking is, if you can ease the pain or suffering w/o drugs, why wouldn't you? Look at all the risks now being associated with the majority of children's cold medicine...doctors are no longer recommending these and many companies have been forced to recall things they've had out for years....when honey & lemon in hot tea can help just as well or better, with no side effects. Mint tea can ease headaches. Chamomile is great for calming down nerves or relaxing before falling asleep. Cold packs and Vit C bring down fevers pretty quickly. Warm packs ease aches and pains, too. Anyway...just some side notes. =)
Oragel literally made my son gag (and he ate pretty much anything I put in his mouth). My DD hated the stuff, also.
I try everything I give my kids first. =) The teething tablets are fantastic. These are so tiny...between 1/3 and 1/2 the size of a pea. They melt instantly, so there's no chance of that little one choking. =) They taste pleasant enough...there's really not much flavor there, so you don't really notice it in your mouth. They have natural ingredients which help your baby to calm down and make them able to deal with the pain, rather than drug it away.
For the parents struggling through teething right now, these are priceless...a very good buy here and easy to find in walmart, grocery and drugstore shelves pretty much anywhere if you need it right away. Also, frozen pretzels and gauze soaked in chamomile tea and frozen in 1/2" rolls help immensely, also.
Hope your baby feels better very soon...and hope you get some rest. =)

1 out of 5 stars $25 for not a lot of sugar   October 2, 2008
If these work at all (my experience is that they don't) it is because they are made of milk sugar. Regarding the homeopathic ingredients (including coffee and belladonna a.k.a. deadly nightshade), there are essentially three possibilities. One is that you are getting none or virtually none of the ingredients, since homeopathy is essentially a gimmick to sell water or sugar that was once shaken up with the ingredient. Possibilities two and three are that the product contains too much of the ingredients or other ingredients altogether, since homeopathic remedies *are not regulated*.

Anyway, use kids tynenol if you want an actual medicine, and use teething rings if you don't want medicine, and use sugar cubes if you want to distract your kid with sugar. You can use these if you want to be ripped off and to give your kid sugar mixed with you don't know what.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!   July 22, 2008
When my baby was 3 months old he started teething and I was using Tylenol, which I wasn't very comfortable with (and it didn't help too much.) Someone recommended Hylands and I was a bit skeptical (not having any experience at all with anything homeopathic!) I was shocked at how they calmed my baby and seemed to ease his discomfort! He is getting two more teeth in right now at 5 months and I have started using them again and they are just incredible. Bedtime used to be frustrating because he would get so cranky, apparently from the discomfort. We give two tablets and they makes nighttime crankiness disappear. I definitely would recommend these to anyone with a teething youngster!

3 out of 5 stars Wish I knew there was lactose in them.   July 1, 2008
I bought these after hearing many positive things. Lucky for my daughter I read the full list of ingredients before giving them to her! She has a dairy allergy and though these may have helped with teething they would have caused her worse pain in her digestive tract.
